Temporary information signs

Improved safety around construction sites

When there is a risk of confusion on a construction site (e.g., personnel or vehicle incursions onto taxiways, dust generation), a Safety Risk Assessment may determine the need to inform aircrews of the affected area.

Inform the crew

For instance, a temporary service road crossing a taxiway could pose a risk due to the proximity between aircraft and vehicles, especially if personnel are unfamiliar with aviation safety. In such cases, a temporary information sign reading "CONSTRUCTION AHEAD" should be installed, optionally followed by an "END CONSTRUCTION" sign to indicate the zone's end.

Compliancy

This signage was developed through research by the FAA’s Airport Construction Advisory Council and Paris-CDG to alert airside personnel to temporary hazards affecting aeronautical safety. The signs comply with ICAO standards for information signs (Annex 14 Vol. I §5.4.3), except for the background color, which uses safety orange.
